3 Quick Travel Tips to Help You Save Time and Money
Thinking about taking a trip or traveling abroad but you’re worried about the price? Well I have some good news for you! I got 3 quick travel tips to help you save time and money! With some proper planning and patience, you can save a lot.
Tip 1 – Cheap Flight Deals
Purchasing flight tickets during a discount is the best way to go. Never pay full price for anything! Deals only come around only on occasion but they are worth it, so you will want to make sure you are ready for when they do. In order to be ready you will want to take the necessary steps to be ready. Make a list of places you want to go, have an idea of when you want to go, and have the money to purchase your tickets ready.
Once a deal to one of your travel destinations pops up, then immediately jump on the offer. Offers normally only last 24 hours. If you take too long to jump on the offer you may miss it. To give you an idea on how much you can save, I will give you an example. I have a friend who purchased tickets to Italy from Salt Lake City for $1,200, while I only paid $550. As you can see, that’s more than half the price!
Tip 2 – Book Your Lodging Early
Aside from your flight tickets, your accommodations will be the next most expensive part, if not the most expensive part. It’s important and crucial to begin looking at your lodging options as soon as you have purchased your flight tickets. If you delay booking your accommodations, you run the risk of either paying a lot of money or you have to settle with a place that’s not as nice or further away from all of the attractions. You get the best bang for your buck if you book in advance! I have made the mistake of waiting and I have suffered the consequences that come with it. Don’t do the same!
Tip 3 – Plan Your Itinerary
Planning your itinerary will help you get everything else in line. You need to figure out if you’re staying in one city or going to several. Once you have solidified which cities you want to go to, look up the things you want to do in each city and list them out. List them or number them in priority order. Most likely you won’t have time to do everything on your list, so prioritizing the ones that are a must. I also recommend having a backup list of filler activities in case one of the priority activities falls through. Once you do this, it will help you see how much time you need in each city and you can plan accordingly.
Next, write out the actual itinerary by day and break it down by hour. Keep in mind that itineraries are more like guidelines. Some activities will take longer than anticipated and may not go according to plan, so plan to be a little flexible. Make sure to take transportation time into consideration as well. I normally recommend at least one hour in between activities. Lastly, sometimes you may want a day where nothing is planned and you just want to go explore without an agenda. If that’s the case, then block a day out in the itinerary just for that.
Follow these 3 tips and I guarantee you will save a good amount of time and money. Don’t wait until the last minute. Plan ahead and be ready!
